"The American Type Founders Company (ATF) was established in 1892 after 23 independent type foundries merged. The company standardized type production in the United States and became the leading type foundry of the early 20th century. ATF also distributed and produced typefaces to printers and designers nationwide. In 1902, one of ATF's founders, Morris Fuller Benton, created Franklin Gothic. This sans-serif typeface was designed for use in advertising, posters, and headlines, where bold and clear lettering was needed. Franklin Gothic moved away from the decorative styles of the 19th century and instead emphasized simplicity, weight, and legibility."
For this project, I based my design on early twentieth-century typography. For this particular page, I chose the Franklin Gothic font and wrote about the American Type Founders. I used Photoshop and Illustrator.
